US spacecraft to take slingshot dive inside Saturn's rings

NASA's Cassini spacecraft captured this view of planet Earth as a point of light between the icy rings of Saturn

A new image from NASA's Cassini spacecraft shows planet Earth as a point of light between the icy rings of Saturn.

NASA's Cassini spacecraft has detected hydrogen molecules in the geysers shooting off the moon Enceladus, possibly the result of deep-sea chemical reactions between water and rock that could spark microbial life, scientists announced Thursday.

"Cassini's own discoveries were its demise", said project manager Earl Maize during a recent press conference.

Cassini Has Made Earth Feel Small, But Part Of Something Bigger

On April 26, the spacecraft will start a series of 22 dives through the 1,500 mile-wide gap between Saturn and its rings.

In 2004, NASA, in a partnership with the European Space Agency and Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (the Italian Space Agency) launched their space probe Cassini to explore the Saturn System.

After decades in space and a journey of more than 4.1 billion miles, NASA's Cassini orbiter is set for its grand finale. There will be no turning back once it flies past Titan, and embark on a new path around Saturn. The spacecraft will duck through the gap between Saturn and its rings 22 times before spiraling out of control and vaporizing in the sky above Saturn this September.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: Why Manchester City clash represents a special opportunity
City also headed into the weekend as favourites to lift the trophy with Arsene Wenger's side considered outright outsiders. Arsenal and Manchester City will cross swords in FA Cup semifinals at Wembley on Sunday.

Though it will be sad to witness Cassini's demise, we can take pride in the extraordinary wealth of knowledge gained from the mission.

Cassini's days are numbered, but the probe is making the most if its waning mission. They want to have the first-ever sampling of the atmosphere of Saturn and the particles that come from the main rings. A couple instruments will provide a quick rundown on the dust situation. New ocean world discoveries from Cassini and Hubble will help inform future exploration and the broader search for life beyond Earth.

We've got to eat healthy, take excellent care of our families, get to the office on time, earn a livable income, do battle with traffic and train delays, squeeze in an appointment, and on and on.

Woods hits first public shots
For those wondering why Tiger Woods has been rumored to be hanging out in Branson, Missouri, the wait is over. Morris called Woods, a 119-time victor between the PGA and European Tour, "the grandest ambassador" of golf.

Even as it plunges into Saturn's atmosphere, Cassini will be sending information about the end of its life until it can't.

All this is on top of a science mission that already has rewritten the textbooks on the Saturnian system. It made us freer and bigger by showing how little we know and how much more room there is to expand our thoughts and dreams.

US, Japan agree China should play larger role on North Korea
A senior North Korean official then accused the United States of bringing the countries to the brink of thermonuclear war. North and South Korea are technically still at war because their 1950-53 conflict ended in a truce, not a peace treaty.
