Northern Ireland party agrees to May's minority government

As rumors swirled about plots to oust May, Johnson denied he was planning a leadership challenge. But Britain's Saturday newspapers agreed she is just clinging on.

The Conservatives won 318 out of 650 seats - throwing away a 17-seat majority. Labour surpassed expectations by winning 262.

But the PM faced mounting calls from within her own party to resign, with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn claiming he should be allowed to form a minority administration after making significant gains.

Front and center among many questions facing May's new government is the matter of Brexit.

"I think her position is, in the long term, untenable", another Conservative lawmaker, Anna Soubry, tells Sky News.

May and her party had been expected to win by large margins, but things did not go as she had planned.

Hailing what he called an "incredible result" for his party, Mr Corbyn declared: "We are ready to serve this country".

Isolated US Lashes Out at Climate Critics
The US will "continue to be a leader in the environment", but do so "under our terms", she added. Other Trump administration members have outright dodged this issue.

May has been pressing for a so-called "hard" Brexit, which would include leaving the EU's massive collective market and no longer allowing European Union citizens to live and work freely in the United Kingdom.

However, they have now become very important in the current climate, where no one party has an overall majority.

To stay in power, the Conservatives are seeking support from Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party.

It is likely to be the Conservatives' first move as they look to form a government without a majority.

A confidence and supply deal would mean them backing the Government on its Budget and confidence motions, but could potentially lead to other issues being decided on a vote-by-vote basis.

"Now, of course, if she's [May] got to be constantly making deals throughout this parliament, or indeed if she falls and there's a lot of negotiations or a lot of discussion as to whether she'll be leading this Conservative minority government".

But the wooing of the DUP risks upsetting the political balance in Northern Ireland by aligning London more closely with the pro-British side in the divided province, where a power-sharing government with Irish nationalists is now suspended.

DC Almost Didn't Include Steve Trevor In Wonder Woman
Steve is so deep in the mythology that after some debate we found that just like Wonder Woman needs Steve, we needed Steve too. She's got to come to America. "Chris Pine was a rare and special casting".

Some senior Tories had made the removal of Hill and Timothy a condition for continuing to support May, who has vowed to remain prime minister.

"The idea that the British Government could be taking sides having been the guarantor of the Good Friday agreement and the subsequent peace agreements, I think is really troubling".

She said Brexit talks would begin on June 19 as scheduled, the same day as the formal reopening of parliament. Its cartoon depicted May in a coffin with her feet sticking out and a speech bubble saying "Nothing has changed", a line she repeated several times as she reversed a key policy on social care during the campaign.

He said there was a "possibility" of voting down the Queen's Speech and Labour were going to "push all the way" to achieve that.

The two men in charge of Britain's economy deliver their annual Mansion House speech on Thursday when they are likely to try to calm businesses and investors anxious by May's precarious grip on power and the uncertain outlook for the United Kingdom economy which has lost a lot of its momentum of 2016.

Theresa May is to leave her most senior Cabinet team in place after her General Election gamble backfired disastrously.

In the palaces and chancelleries of Europe - not to mention in Brussels - the presidents, prime ministers and European Commission bureaucrats will no doubt be chortling with uncontrolled glee at the humiliation that Mrs May could be heading for.
