USA extends Iran sanctions relief under nuclear deal -State Dept

Jaffer stated that he was pleased that the Donald Trump administration was looking into alternatives but said that the best option would be to scrap the nuclear deal altogether, whether or not a replacement was found.

In a sign of Trump's deep ambivalence about the deal, the sanctions waivers were announced today by USA officials on a background call where they also announced that the Treasury Department has blacklisted 11 Iranian entities and individuals allegedly linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) ballistic missile program and cyberhacking of United States financial institutions prior to 2013.

In a speech last week, US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley laid out how and why the administration might decertify the agreement, citing Iran's other malign activities, such as support for terrorism.

Tillerson recalled the preamble of the agreement, which expected the deal "will positively contribute to regional and global peace and security", and contrasted it with the regime's continued malign activity in the region.

Haley also brought up the importance of stopping Iran from exploiting "ambiguous language" in the deal, as well as IAEA's access to facilities in the Islamic Republic.

North Korea resumes activity at nuclear test site, watchdog says
Commercial satellite imagery has helped identify multiple landslides at the Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Site near Mt. North Korea carried out its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on September 3, worsening already fraught U.S.

Rouhani says the U.S.is not complying with the agreement, but insists his government remains committed to it. He then told the Wall Street Journal that he "would be surprised if they were in compliance [by the next deadline]".

"Until Iran ceases using commercial aircraft to support terrorists and war criminals, western companies ought not be allowed to sell Iranian airliners more aircraft that they can use to fuel Assad's brutal war", Roskam said during House floor debate. "Whatever tactical disagreements may exist between the USA and Europe, there remains a rough strategic consensus about Iran among the allies". If the president doesn't certify compliance, Congress has 60 days to decide whether to re-impose sanctions lifted under the agreement.

Trump has not yet decided whether he will certify Iran's continued compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) next month, United States officials said. The three-month recertification deadlines determine the status of sanction relief under the agreement.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has verified that Iran has implemented its key nuclear-related measures described in the JCPOA, and the Secretary State has confirmed the IAEA's verification.

This "decertification" could be blamed on some minor technical violations Iran has been accused of, or Trump could simply declare that the deal was not in America's national security interest.

It made a record-setting $103.1 million during its opening weekend, becoming the biggest opening ever for a female director . At long last, there is peace in Themyscira, for Patty Jenkins has officially signed on to direct the Wonder Woman sequel .

The JCPOA is successfully blocking Iran's pathways to a nuclear weapon, re-obligating the Iranian government in perpetuity to never acquire a nuclear weapon and to permit intrusive inspections.

The Trump White House's threats to dismantle the JCPOA are tremendously risky for the US and the entire world.

The idea may meet more skepticism from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who cited the "good end" reached in the Iran accord in an interview published this week, saying the approach could be replicated in talks over North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

Discussions with America's key worldwide partners about how to handle Iran after some of the current agreement's nuclear restrictions expire are also necessary.
